The middle of spring offers gentle and pleasant breezes, birds' twitter and fragrance of flowers; soft green grass carpets the ground. On April 26, Yang Liu, China's first female astronaut, Shufang Wang, the leader of the industrialization promotion of Beidou Satellites and the Deputy Director of the Navigation Center under China Transport Telecommunications & Information Center, Yan Chen, Vice Chairman of the Federation of Industry and Commerce, Changning District, Shanghai and the CSO of Focus Media, and other National Woman Pace-setters visited Fudan University and talked with the teachers and students there; besides, they visited the research results of our group in light-driven liquid crystal materials.

Accompanied by Prof. Yanlei Yu, the report team visited our group's synthesis laboratory and optical instrument room, having watched the optical drive experiment demonstration with great interest. According to Space Heroine Yang Liu, it was the first time she has experienced the material science laboratory in person, and she felt particularly excited. First, Student Yuyun Liu showed a light-humidity responsive liquid crystal polymer actuator, the latest research result of our group. Seeing a very beautifully trimmed yellow plastic piece in the shape of a Christmas tree instantly deform and "danced trippingly" on the palm of the hand, the heroines were curious. Next, Student Bo Xu showed the report team the world's leading light-driven microfluidic technology. Seeing the small liquid columns flow quickly in the hair-like liquid crystal microtubes, the woman pace-setters heaped praise and got amazed. In the end, Yang Liu personally experienced the O-paper technology recently developed by Student Lang Qin; she wrote down her name on the LCD panel with a laser pointer and took photos with her mobile phone. Within just twenty minutes, the female models experienced the charm of the world of liquid crystal, while the students in the research group felt the humbleness and affinity of the woman pace-setters.
