Resume of Professor Liang-Chy Chien:
Prof. Chien received his Ph.D. from the University of Southern Mississippi. He is currently a Professor and Interim Director of the Chemical Physics Interdisciplinary Program, Liquid Crystal Institute, Kent State University. Prof.Chien is internationally known for his leading work in liquid crystals, polymers and composites for devices and applications. Since joining Kent State in 1988, he has established and directed the Advanced Liquid Crystal and Polymer Research Laboratory. Over the years, his laboratory has developed several liquid crystal and polymer composite materials for optical, electro-optical, e-paper and flexible display applications. He is the co-inventor of the bistable reflective cholesteric displays, polymer stabilized liquid crystal light modulators and polymer encapsulated liquid crystal displays. He has published 118 articles, over 95 proceedings, edited three books and several book chapters as well as nine issued patents in several interdisciplinary research areas.
