In this golden October, the autumn breeze is cool. In celebration of the 60th anniversary of the Polymer Committee, Chinese Chemical Society, the National Polymer Academic Paper Report Conference 2015 themed by "fusion of disciplines for polymer innovation" sponsored by the Polymer Committee, Chinese Chemical Society and organized by Suzhou University was convened grandly at Suzhou International Expo Center beside the beautiful Jinji Lake on October 17-21. The biennial National Polymer Academic Paper Report Conference is the most important academic conference in the polymer science community of China. With polymer material as the cut-in point, the conference presented a concentrated display of the research findings and development trends in polymer science and materials in China over the past years, having provided a broad academic and technical exchange platform to the S&T, educational, and industrial practitioners engaged in research and development in this field and the young students.

During the conference, students Yuyun Liu, Lang Qin, Yuanyuan Zhan, and Wei Gu from our group stood out in the preliminary paper delivery and screening. In a context filled with strong competitors which brought about a low acceptance rate, all papers were accepted. Four sets of posters were exhibited at the branch venues for photoelectric functional polymer and polymer composite system, while Yuyun Liu got a valuable opportunity for oral presentation at the branch venue for macromolecular substances and soft substances, which fully demonstrated the strengths and talent of our students. Following Jiuan Lyu and Zhen Jiang who won the Excellent Poster Award at the previous National Polymer Conference, Qin Lang won the Excellent Poster Award again; the title of his report is "An Up-conversion Luminescence-based Study on the Photodeformation of Post-crosslinked Liquid Crystal Polymer/Polyurethane Blended Film". Yuyun Liu’s oral presentation brought about an animated atmosphere; the students and teachers present spoke highly of her performance, and kept on with communication and discussion with her even after the conference.

It is an extremely unforgettable experience for us to participate in the national event of the polymer community; we fully exercised our capabilities during oral presentation and poster display. More importantly, we witnessed the demeanor of great figures in the polymer community, and were in a position to have in-depth exchanges with academic seniors and students and learn the polymer advances, which not only broadened our scope of knowledge, but also benefited our own researches.
